As teams across the NFL start solidifying their 53-man rosters, the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins agreed to a trade. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Tuesday.

The Dolphins are sending cornerback Noah Igbinoghene to the Cowboys for cornerback Kelvin Joseph. Igbinoghene was a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft while Joseph was taken in the second round the following year.

Joseph totaled 36 tackles and four passes defended during his three seasons in Dallas. Igbinoghene collected 29 stops and an interception while with the Dolphins.

Perhaps new scenery will allow both of these players to grow as defensive backs. It provides each with the opportunity at a fresh start, sometimes a good thing in the NFL.

The Cowboys and Dolphins do meet later in the regular season. On Christmas Eve, Dallas travels to Miami for a showdown on FOX at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Both the Dolphins and Cowboys open the 2023 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 10. Miami travels to Los Angeles for a game against the Chargers at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.

Dallas takes on the New York Giants in a primetime showdown on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Kelvin Joseph was a second-round pick for Cowboys

Joseph played college football at LSU and Kentucky, though didn’t see a ton of action for either team. He appeared six games for the Tigers in 2018 and played in nine contests for the Wildcats during the pandemic-altered 2020 campaign.
