Despite turning in an extensive list of names on their injury report on Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys added a couple of new names on Friday ahead of the Week 6 game against the Chargers. The list was so long on Thursday due to a slew of veterans taking a rest day but the majority returned to practice on Friday.

Despite concerns of a major injury to his ankle from Week 5, return man KaVontae Turpin was able to practice on Friday. However, his status for Monday is still up in the air. If he’s unable to play, the team will turn to rookie running back Deuce Vaughn.

The Cowboys moved two players to the injured reserve this week – tight end Peyton Hendershot (ankle) and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch (neck). Meanwhile, special teams ace C.J. Goodwin is likely headed to injured reserve as well, however, he told reporters on Thursday that he hopes to return to play within six weeks, instead of sitting out the rest of the year.

Check out the Cowboys and Chargers’ full injury reports from Friday ahead of the Monday Night Football game.

Cowboys designate Nahshon Wright for return from IR

Head coach Mike McCarthy announced ahead of the Week 6 game against the Chargers that cornerback Nahshon Wright is finally designated for a return from injured reserve after missing the first five weeks of the season.

Wright now has a 21-day window to return to the active roster. He suffered a high-ankle sprain in the preseason game versus Jacksonville, making two tackles before making his exit.

Prior to his injury, Wright was the No. 2 cornerback behind Trevon Diggs. However, after Diggs tore his ACL, rookie DaRon Bland moved from nickel to the starting role opposite Stephon Gilmore. With Wright now close to a return to play, the Cowboys could once again switch up the lineup in the secondary.

Wright is in his third year for Dallas after the team drafted him with the No. 99 pick in the third round in 2021. The Oregon State alum posted 23 tackles in seven games last season with one interception. As a rookie, Wright had nine tackles in 13 appearances.
