Report: Dallas Cowboys waive CB Andrew Booth after Jonathan Mingo trade
The Dallas Cowboys waived cornerback Andrew Booth, in light of the acquisition of WR Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The Cowboys acquired Booth this summer via trade. However, he’s only been active in three games this season, logging 38 snaps.
Booth was originally a second round pick out of Clemson by the Minnesota Vikings in 2022. In his career, Booth has 26 total tackles and one pass deflection.
He played all 17 games last season but only six as a rookie with the Vikings. While with Clemson, Booth was named First-Team All-ACC in 2021 and Second-Team in 2020.
As a member of the Class of 2019, Booth was a five-star recruit out of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 2 cornerback in the class and the No. 24 overall prospect in the class.

Andrew Booth waived amid Jonathan Mingo trade
To make room for Wingo, Booth had to be waived by the Cowboys. Now Booth will hope to land elsewhere to continue his NFL career.
The acquisition of Mingo comes just after team owner Jerry Jones revealed on 105.3 The Fan that Dallas would likely trade for a receiver ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline. Jones revealed the wideout to be somebody they previously considered drafting, and that player is Mingo, who went 39th overall in last year’s NFL Draft out of Ole Miss. Mingo went to Carolina 19 picks before the Cowboys selected tight end Luke Schoonmaker.
Mingo, 23, gets a fresh start in Dallas after an underwhelming start to his career in Carolina. Mingo hauled in 43 receptions for 418 yards last season. He has just 12 catches for 121 yards nine games into the 2024 campaign. Mingo has yet to record his first career touchdown.
Among the 72 receivers with at least 50 receptions since the start of last season, Mingo is last in yards (539) and catch rate (49.5%) and 71st in yards per route run (0.75), via The 33rd Team. Mingo’s last catch, a one-yard gain, came in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons (6-3).
