One of the Dallas Cowboys trio of star receivers saw his season cut short due to an ACL injury in Michael Gallup. The Cowboys speedy wideout suffered the injury during their week 17 loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals. And now, after a month since suffering the injury, Gallup is expected to undergo surgery to repair his knee.

According to reports, Dallas head team physician Dr. Dan Cooper will perform the surgery on Gallup to repair his ACL next Thursday. If the surgery in rehab goes accordingly, he should be back on the field for the 2022 season.

Before going down with the injury, Gallup had three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Gallup entered the game with 32 receptions for 409 yards and one touchdown.

Another thing to watch as Gallup recovers from his ACL surgery is this upcoming free agent. The Cowboys receiver is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in March and it’s just one of 21 players the team will have to decide what to do with this offseason. With him having surgery to repair his ACL there is no guarantee that Gallup will come back the same. Which could mean possibly a lower price tag on his services for the 2022 season and seasons to come.

Parsons wins Butkus award and praise from the legendary linebacker

Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons is expected to make a pretty big haul this season in NFL awards. And he has already started to collect on his bounty, receiving one of the most prestigious awards for an NFL linebacker, the Dick Butkus Award. The Dick Butkus trophy is given out every year to the best linebacker in the NFL that season, and after the 2021 season, Parsons’ performance stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

On Tuesday, the award’s namesake legendary Chicago Bears linebacker Dick Butkus congratulated the Cowboys superstar rookie on his achievement.

“Big shout out to @MicahhParsons11 this years Butkus award winner. He had a heck of a season and joins elite company. Kick ass in the pro bowl,” wrote Butkus via Twitter.

Although his first NFL season didn’t finish the way he would’ve liked, hoisting up the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl XLI, Parsons capped off the year as a first-time pro-bowler. He was also named a first-team NFL All-Pro for his performance with the Cowboys. Helping to lead Dallas to the playoffs, Parsons filled the stat sheet. His 84 total tackles in the regular season and playoffs finished second on the team behind Jayron Kearse while his 13 sacks were the most on the Cowboys’ defense.
