Dallas Cowboys WR Antonio Callaway arrested in Miami
Cowboys receiver Antonio Callaway was arrested Saturday in Miami, his hometown.
This is a breaking news story and there are few details, as yet.
Miami-based radio reporter Andy Slater shared Antonio Callaway’s mug shot Saturday night. He tweeted: “Dallas Cowboys WR Antonio Callaway was arrested in Miami on Saturday. Callaway had a warrant for driving with a suspended license and failing to pay, a law enforcement source tells me.”
The Cowboys signed Callaway to their practice squad last November. The team then signed him to a futures contract in January.
The Cleveland Browns selected Callaway, the former Florida Gator, in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s had a troubled NFL career. The league suspended him for the first four games of 2019 for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. The Browns cut him in November. He was facing another lengthy suspension.
He spent part of 2020 on the roster of the Tampa Vipers in the XFL. But the pandemic closed down the league. The Dolphins picked him up in the fall of 2020, although Callaway still needed to serve his suspension from 2019. Miami waived him before the season ended.
