Fans of the Dallas Mavericks have shared plenty of backlash at Nico Harrison, the franchise’s general manager, the past two months since the trade of Luka Doncic. That included the latest incident inside American Airlines Center.

Ahead of the Mavs’ home game against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, a fan sitting by the tunnel recorded himself yelling ‘Fire Nico!’ three times right in front of Harrison as he walked from the floor to the back. Some time later, that fan was then confronted by venue security.

Again, this is just the latest criticism of Harrison over the last two months since the deal that sent Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Fans protested outside the arena the following day into the next week inside the venue, including the removal of some fans, while Harrison received death threats and racial comments against him. It’s even since led to reaction from the team’s former owner in Mark Cuban.

Dallas dealt Doncic, a five-time All-Star and selection as First Team All-NBA with the Mavericks, to Los Angeles for Anthony Davis among other compensation. In his 22 games since, in which LA is 14-8 to be up to the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, as a Laker, Doncic has averaged 27.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.9 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. That has led to responses such as ‘Thank you, Nico!’ chants by their own crowd.

Dallas is then at 11-16, including going 2-11 over almost a month stretch there from mid-February to mid-March, since trading Doncic. A 113-109 loss to the Nets last night was the latest loss on that record as they hang on to a spot in the Play-In Tournament in the NBA Playoffs. The bad luck hasn’t stopped there either with several key injuries in that time, specifically a torn ACL for Kyrie Irving, an adductor strain for Davis, and others to pieces like Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Dante Exum.

This is a deal, whether it stays this bad or ever improves, that’ll forever follow Harrison for the rest of his career as an executive. That’s clear by the continued reaction of fans toward him like this one last night
