When reporters spotted linebacker Micah Parsons throwing up on the sidelines during the win against the Carolina Panthers, the Cowboys made it clear that the star defender wasn’t sick. The Penn State alum was still able to notch six tackles and a career-high 2.5 sacks despite up-chucking at least twice, so what was the issue?

Parsons fessed up to trying a new energy powder, made by C4, prior to the game. Unfortunately for him, his stomach wasn’t quite ready for the energy-elevating power of the pre-workout mix.

“I got some water to help put it down,” Parsons said post-game, via Jon Machota. “By the fifth play, it felt like my heart was gonna jump outta my chest. I felt like I was about to explode. I’m never doing that shit again.”

Parsons’ 2.5 sacks brought the Cowboys’ total on the day to seven and his season total up to 10 with six tackles for loss. He’s the first player in franchise history with at least 10 sacks in each of his first three seasons. Jayron Kearse, Chauncey Golston, DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorance Armstrong and Sam Williams all got involved in taking down rookie QB Bryce Young on Sunday.

On top of seven sacks, the Cowboys also scored a pick-six thanks to cornerback DaRon Bland. The pick-six was No. 4 of the season for the second-year star out of Boise State. It tied the NFL’s single-season record. One more and he’ll have the record all to himself.

Almost all of Carolina’s points came on one 17-play drive that included multiple fourth-down conversions. The Dallas defense held the Panthers to 187 total yards on the day, including just 77 passing yards.

Cowboys healthy for Thanksgiving Day game

The Cowboys walked off the field in Charlotte with a 33-10 victory, moving their record to 7-3 on the season. They’ll have a quick turnaround for the game on Thursday. Dallas welcomes the Washington Commanders for the first time this year on Thanksgiving Day.

Country music legend Dolly Parton will be the main attraction at halftime. Parton will perform a few of her 25 career No. 1 songs as the opening act for The Salvation Army and its Red Kettle Kickoff fundraising campaign.

Parton, an 11-time Grammy Award winner, was a co-host for the Academy of Country Music Awards at the Cowboys’ Star facility in Frisco along with Garth Brooks in May.

The Cowboys have been hosting the Thanksgiving Day game since 1966 when then-team president Tex Schramm volunteered his team. It’s been one of the biggest factors for the team’s fan base growth across the country, on top of their dynastic success in the 1990s.
