Dallas PD: Rashee Rice 'suspected' driver in race that led to major six-vehicle accident

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is a suspect in a major accident that occurred on Saturday in Dallas. Dallas News reporter Kelli Smith provided further details on the situation.
“Dallas police say two drivers in a Corvette and Lamborghini were racing when they crashed, causing a 6-vehicle accident. Both drivers ran. A call sheet we obtained lists Kansas City Chiefs’ Rashee Rice as the suspected Corvette driver,” Smith wrote on X.
The crash reportedly occurred around 6:20 p.m. local time Saturday. Two drivers were treated at the crash site for minor injuries, and two other people were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, per Smith’s report.
“His alleged involvement in the crash is unclear. Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman said the preliminary investigation determined a driver in a Chevrolet Corvette and a driver in a Lamborghini were speeding in the far left lane, near University Boulevard, where both lost control of their vehicles,” Smith wrote.
Background on Rice’s career
A former SMU Mustang, Rice caught 233 passes in college totaling over 3,100 yards and 25 touchdowns. He improved in each of his four seasons in school as he built up to a senior season where he finished with 96 catches for 1,355 yards and 10 scores.

Rice then came out in the 2023 NFL Draft and was the No. 55 pick for Kansas City as the franchise’s second round selection.
As a rookie for the Chiefs, Rice finished behind only TE Travis Kelce for reception statistics on the year. He caught 79 of his 102 targets for 938 yards in his 16 appearances. His seven touchdowns led the offense with two more than Kelce. He also proved himself to be reliable for QB Patrick Mahomes with equal drops to the rest of the receivers even though he saw twice as many targets.
Rice also put together an impressive first playoff run as the Chiefs stormed to another Super Bowl victory. He recorded 26 receptions across four postseason games and amassed 262 yards and a touchdown to easily put him over the 1,000-yard mark in total for his rookie season.
With Kelce’s growing age and Kansas City’s general lack of reliable pass catchers aside from the veteran tight end, Rice has a chance to really emerge as Mahomes’ No. 1 option over the next couple of seasons.
