Dallas Turner out of Alabama is one of the best available edge rushers in the 2024 NFL Draft. Whatever team picks him is going to expect him to become an excellent pass rusher. Turner knows that and is already looking forward to sacking several quarterbacks in particular.

Recently, Turner shared that there are two quarterbacks he wants to sack more than any others, Bryce Young of the Carolina Panthers and Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I’m not gonna lie, it’s really between Bryce and Pat Mahomes,” Dallas Turner said. “Like, I never got to hit Bryce before in practice, but there was a bunch of times I wanted to.”

Dallas Turner and Bryce Young, of course, were teammates at Alabama. As he explained, he doesn’t want to go and sack Young to hurt him or because they had issues as teammates. It’s just that he could never get him back for when Young made good plays in practice.

“He made me look stupid a couple of times in practice,” Turner added.

Dallas Turner initially came to Alabama as a five-star recruit and the ninth-ranked recruit nationally in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

During his time at Alabama, Turner spent all but the 2023 season playing with Will Anderson, one of the best young edge rushers in the NFL. He also compiled plenty of stats during his career. In three seasons, Turner played in 38 games. He had 120 total tackles, 32.5 tackles for a loss, and 22.5 sacks.

Dallas Turner went on to perform well at the NFL Combine, running a 4.46 40-yard dash. He also had a 40.5-inch broad jump.

NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. currently has Turner listed as his ninth-best available player and in a recent mock draft, he was projected to go eighth overall to the Atlanta Falcons. If that’s where he ends up, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to sack Bryce Young.

Joel Klatt claims Dallas Turner could have a higher NFL ceiling than Will Anderson

Given that they were teammates at Alabama and Dallas Turner is projected to be taken nearly as high as Will Anderson, it’s easy to compare the two. Analyst Joel Klatt did just that and came away thinking that Turner may have the higher NFL ceiling.

“Dallas might have a higher ceiling than Will Anderson. I’m not saying he’s definitely gonna get there. But, the attributes suggest that he’s got a higher ceiling. He’s not as consistent and he’s not as polished as what Will Anderson was,” Klatt said.

“Will Anderson is an alpha. He’s a terrific player. That’s why he is the NFL rookie Defensive Player of the Year. As far as just a ceiling, Turner’s might be even a little bit higher.”
