The Dallas Cowboys came up short against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, losing on a field goal 22-20 to fall to 10-5 on the year. Though the Cowboys’ first-quarter red zone fumble and penalties were partly to blame for the narrow loss, most fans were clamoring to know after the game why the offense moved away from wide receiver CeeDee Lamb after an explosive start.

Lamb posted 100 yards within the first 15 minutes of play but ended the game with just 18 more yards. The former first-rounder was vocal about the situation after the game, calling the circumstances “very weird.”

“They weren’t doing anything,” Lamb said of the Dolphins defense. “I feel like if I’m gonna be involved, keep me involved. It was weird, that second and third quarter. Very weird.”

“Started off the game hot,” he added. “I went absent. That’s why it was weird.”

Lamb ended the game with six catches for 118 yards and one touchdown. His score made him just the third Cowboys receiver all-time with touchdown receptions in seven consecutive games, joining Terrell Owens and Dez Bryant. It is also currently the longest active scoring streak in the league.

On the year, Lamb now has 109 receptions, 1,424 receiving yards, nine receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and 101 rushing yards. He is second only to Tyreek Hill (1,641) in receiving yards this season.

Cowboys look to bounce back from first two-loss streak

Despite his clear disappointment in his role in the loss on Sunday, Lamb is confident the Cowboys can bounce back for Week 17. Dallas hosts the Lions for the last home game of the regular season on Saturday night.

“We are the team that we want to be, we just can’t have missed opportunities,” he said. “For us to be the team we want to be, we have to continue to be confident in who we are, stick to the script and be explosive.”

“You always want to come up with a win. Obviously, in those types of games, there are some tough situations. I know that we’re gonna bounce back.”

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy owned up to his part in the loss during his press conference and reiterated his faith in his team.

“It was a hard-fought game,” McCarthy said post-game. “It gives you a taste of if we have to go on the road to get this done, and there’s a lot that we can draw from this. We’re disappointed because we had some miscues. I had a horses-t backed-up plan, and we were backed up twice and didn’t move the field position, so we didn’t help our defense out there.

“We didn’t have a takeaway, but we had a giveaway. It’s those big mistakes you can’t make in these games, but I think the resilience, battle and grit that we’re looking for — we clearly have that.”
