Bills safety Damar Hamlin remained on a breathing tube after suffering an on-field collapse that required CPR, according to an update Monday. Hamlin’s friend and marketing agent released a statement with a new update on his condition, stating that his vitals had returned to normal but that he was put to sleep in order for the hospital to put a breathing tube down his throat.

Damar Hamlin hospital update

“Update on Damar: His vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests. We will provide updates as we have them,” explained his friend, Jordon Rooney.

The update is one of the few official updates provided by a member of the NFL or Hamlin’s family since the horrifying scene unfolded on Monday night. Hamlin collapsed on the field during Monday night’s game and required CPR and a defibrillator while on the field before being loaded into an ambulance. The moment left players on both teams visibly distraught as they watched the medical staff work on Hamlin, leaving the entire sports world worried about the health of the second-year player.

NFL officially postpones Bengals-Bills game

After the teams spent time in the locker rooms while the NFL attempted to make a decision on postponing the game, the league officially announced their decision to postpone the game for another date.

“Tonight’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals game has been postponed after Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin collapsed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announced.

“Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field by team and independent medical staff and local paramedics. He was then transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.

“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available.

“The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game.”
