Former star NFL receiver Antonio Brown has become something of a sideshow in the sports world of late, with his moderate-to-highly-unhinged social media posts drawing plenty of interest, scorn and eyeballs. But at least one current NFL player, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, is fed up with Brown and his antics.

After Brown responded to a prompt post — asking about the death of a fictional character readers hadn’t gotten over — with a picture of Hamlin, the defensive back responded in force. Hamlin infamously suffered from a freak incident of commotio cordis in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals in early 2023, surviving an on-field cardiac arrest.

“You just DM me on Monday?” Hamlin said. “Guess you playing lame games on twitter with my situation because I ain’t DM you back. I pray God don’t ever let me turn into a burnt out old head like you.. I used to look up to you damn near shit sad frfr. Talk bout a clone bring the real AB back!”

He added a clown and thumbs down emoji to the original message.

And Hamlin, who is a native of Pittsburgh, likely wasn’t overstating how he used to watch Brown with admiration during his days starring as a receiver for the Steelers.

But whatever admiration Hamlin might’ve had is evidently dried up. He followed up his original post with a second message, including a screengrab of the various DMs that Brown had been sending without reply from Hamlin.

Hamlin blocked out the content of the messages from Brown.

“Been in my DM over a year talking to yourself,” Hamlin said. “You was supposed to be an example setter. Now you the biggest weirdo we know! Get off twitter & go do some work with some kids or something. #PrayForAB.”

It’s a safe bet Hamlin won’t be responding to any new DMs that Brown might send.

Hamlin recently said he’d like to end his career in Pittsburgh

Hamlin was in a nostalgic mood when the Buffalo Bills safety made an appearance in Steelers land.

A fan, who attended a packed Steel City Collectibles signing event recently, asked Hamlin if he’d ever wanted to play for the Steelers.

“I think ending my career, finishing as a Pittsburgh Steeler would be a dream more so than playing there [at the beginning of my pro career] because I played at Pitt,” Hamlin said. “So… I played at Heinz Field probably like eight years straight [between] WPIAL championships and then Pitt, so a dream come true would be finishing my career as a Steeler.”

Meanwhile, a poll of Pittsburgh Tribune-Review readers revealed that 31 percent would welcome Hamlin so long as it was the right fit, with 29 percent saying they’d absolutely love him in a Steelers uniform.
