Damar Hamlin showed off some hoops skills Saturday night, knocking down a last-second three-pointer to win his own celebrity basketball tournament.

Hamlin, the Buffalo Bill who survived cardiac arrest in January 2023, was back home in Pittsburgh this weekend for a series of events to benefit his Chasing M’s Foundation. New Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson was on hand to capture the shot and Hamlin’s reaction.

Wilson posted the video clip with the caption, “Damar Hamlin for 3!!! Game winner in the Burgh!!!”

Damar Hamlin grew up in Pittsburgh and was a star athlete at Central Catholic High School. He then excelled at playing football for the Pitt Panthers. Although the Steelers were his favorite team growing up, the Bills selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Of course, the nation and the NFL embraced him after he collapsed on the field at Cincinnati’s Paycor Stadium on Jan. 3, 2023. Hamlin’s heart stopped twice, including once on the field, before he arrived at a downtown Cincinnati hospital. He then spent several days in the ICU on life support.

But Hamlin returned to the field for the 2023 season, although the safety spent most of his time on special teams. He played in only five games.

Obviously, Hamlin is healthy, given the shot he took Saturday night. And his celebration was next level.

There were several celebrities on the two basketball teams including recently retired Aaron Donald, another Pitt alum. Check out some of the notables as reported by Brian Batko, a reporter with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Damar Hamlin’s weekend started with a football camp for area kids. And on Sunday, it continues with a CPR Tour. And then there will be an all-star football game Sunday night.

Hamlin will head back to Buffalo for the Bills minicamp from June 11-13. It’s back to football.
