Patrick Beverley has been making headlines after appearing on ESPN on Monday morning.

After the Dallas Mavericks put a beat down on the Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference semifinals Game 7 matchup, Beverly was invited onto Get Up! and First Take to discuss the previous night’s game but he spent most of the time trashing Suns point guard, Chris Paul.

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers hopped onto Twitter to discuss the comments, first asking Beverley “what CP (Chris Paul) do to you?” A follow-up tweet insinuated that what Beverley was saying on ESPN is not how others across the feel about Paul. Lillard even called him out by saying it was “weird behavior.”

“Bra on TV acting like his word law,” Lillard said. “Speaking on private convos and praying on mfs downfall. This weird behavior smh… I ain’t got a horse in the race.”

During his TV appearances, Beverely was comparing Paul to Golden State point guard Steph Curry. He talked about how he would go to bed at night worrying about facing Curry but would enjoy a nice night out of the town in Paul was next up on the schedule.

The comments obviously sit well with Lillard, who goes up against all three of these guys on a regular basis. He made it known just because Beverley had a platform to voice his opinion, not everyone agreed with it.

Even so, Paul struggled in Game 7 on Sunday night, only scoring 10 points in 31 minutes played. However, he was not the only Suns starter failing to live up to expectations, with Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton both having equally as bad performances. After being the top seed in the Western Conference, the early exit will come as a huge disappointment to the franchise.
