Former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette was arrested on Jan. 6 at 3:30 a.m. and charged with possession of less than a gram of meth and unlawful carrying of a firearm, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The arrest, which went unreported until Monday, occurred in Richardson, Texas.

Arnette, 27, was a first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Ohio State standout was released by the Raiders in November 2021 after a video surfaced in which he brandished firearms and was making death threats. Arnette suited up in just 13 games for the Raiders. Since then, Arnette has had multiple run-ins with the law.

Damon Arnette finds himself in more trouble

In January 2022, Arnette was arrested in Las Vegas on charges of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and assault with a deadly weapon. He also received two drug charges. The Clark County District Attorney’s Office dropped the case in July 2022. In May 2023, a grand jury indicted Arnette for assault with a deadly weapon and other firearm charges related to the incident. That August, Arnette agreed to a plea deal. He was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, $2,000 in fines, surrender of the gun he possessed when he was arrested and to stay out of trouble for 90 days. Arnette faced up to one year in jail if he violated the agreement.

Also in July 2022, Arnette was pulled over and found to have a suspended license. Police told Arnette he was not allowed to drive until his license was reinstated. They did, however, allow the passenger to drive the vehicle. Hours later, Arnette was pulled over driving the same vehicle. This time, he was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license. He was released on a $2,000 bond.

Speaking in a Nevada courtroom this past August, Arnette expressed his desire to play in the NFL again.

“If I’m blessed enough to get another chance in the NFL, then I’m going to kill that,” Arnette said, via The Associated Press. “I’ve learned a lot. I’m remorseful about everything. I appreciate and respect another opportunity. I’m a better man than I was.”
