There’s been plenty of angst around the Packer’s quarterback spot with the franchise shifting from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. However, after his first preseason appearance of the season, Dan Orlovsky is high on Green Bay’s new QB1.

Orlovsky applauded Love’s performance in the Packer’s 36-19 win over Cincinnati from Friday on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ yesterday. Overall, he was very impressed by him, especially since it’s clear to him that he learned while playing the understudy to Rodgers over the last few years.

“He was probably the most impressive out of the quarterbacks that are in the unknown camp of week one and the preseason,” Orlovsky said. “The ball went to the right place every single play. That’s part of sitting there for a couple of years. He’s been able to watch this play versus all these different defenses – where does that ball usually go? He was really impressive with it.”

Love finished his outing by going 7/10 for 46 yards and a touchdown. For being just a single series in the preseason, it provided some level of ease as he definitely looked like the part, or at least more than he had in his few opportunities since joining the Packers in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Love has two more preseason games and the start of the season to truly win Green Bay over. Even so, Orlovsky says they should already be more uplifted considering what he showed against the Bengals.

“I was very impressed with him. I would be very encouraged if I was a Packers fan,” Orlovsky said. “He’s in a really good situation. If he can take another big step? That’s going to be awesome.”

McAfee says Love ‘looked very good’

Ten passes was all Pat McAfee needed to see. On Monday, the former Indianapolis Colts punter reviewed quarterback Jordan Love‘s performance in the Green Bay Packers’ preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Jordan Love, hey, I thought he looked very good,” McAfee said on his show. “Once again, not the starters for Cincinnati but we can only judge what we can judge. It is not the Packers’ fault that Cincinnati chose not to play their starters.

“There’s been other starters that have not done well against backups and third strings in other places already this preseason,” McAfee said. “I think that you should be able to enjoy it when you can. The Packers should.”

Matt LaFleur was seemingly happy with his first glimpse at the future as well.

“All in all, I thought it was a good first performance,” LaFleur said of Love. “There’s a lot to learn from and a lot of good came out of it. I thought just the poise he showed? The command he showed? I thought we were getting in and out of the huddle quickly. I thought it was a really good first exposure for him for this season.”
