Report: Dan Snyder 'hates' Commanders success, turnaround under new ownership

Former Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder hates where the team is now, according to a report from ESPN.
The disgraced executive eventually relinquished the franchise in a sale back in April 2023 to a group led by Josh Harris. Harris’ group also owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, among other properties.
But as Snyder look on from afar, Year 2 for the Commanders under new ownership looks amazing doesn’t it? Washington is one win away from going to Super Bowl LIX.
While attending a dinner in London, the ESPN report revealed his true feelings watching his former franchise from a different lens.
“He f—ing hates it,” Snyder’s dinner companion told the colleague, via ESPN.
Snyder, nor his representatives responded to interview requests from ESPN. According to the report, Snyder has “recast” his life since being an NFL team owner 19 months ago.
“He has mostly lived in London, often surrounded by a security detail, or spent time on his superyacht. He is trying to sell his remaining U.S. real estate holdings and decided to give away a $35 million estate to the American Cancer Society after it sat unsold for months,” the report read. “Any business he conducts is from the U.K., where sources with firsthand knowledge say he has expressed interest in buying into a Premier League soccer club, although others who know him well doubt Snyder will ever own any professional sports team again.”
Snyder wasn’t without controversy as an owner. Washington made just six playoff appearances and had two postseason wins in his 24 years at the helm. That was just the surface of the enablement of a toxic workplace culture, financial improprieties and paying hush money to any accusers.

Publicly and privately, Snyder didn’t want to sell the team. After public pressure and urging behind the scenes, Snyder relented and made way for a new era of Washington Commanders football.
If he did hates it, he either won’t watch Sunday or root for the Philadelphia Eagles to get to the Super Bowl instead.
But without Snyder, the Commanders are in a great spot. Head coach Dan Quinn got his second chance to be a head coach in 2024 and Washington went 12-5.
Led by star rookie quarterback and former Heisman winner Jayden Daniels, the Commanders are having a dream season. This is their first NFC Championship appearance in over three decades.
And all Snyder can do at this point, is watch.
