Daniel Dye, Kaulig Racing reveal Adam Petty throwback scheme for Darlington

As part of NASCAR Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway, Daniel Dye is going to have the iconic Adam Petty Spree scheme. Of course, Dye’s sponsor has altered its usual design to match the old No. 45 car.
Daniel Dye is having a decent start to his rookie season in the Xfinity Series. Kaulig Racing might have a driver they can develop into the real deal, not to mention they have Christian Eckes as well, also a rookie.
Darlington has a ton of great paint schemes already announced between the Xfinity and Cup Series. But this Adam Petty throwback is up there with the best of the best. Teams have done a great job of recreating these schemes.
Shoutout to Helm for helping make this happen. It is as close to the real thing as you can get without changing the number and the literal sponsor.
Adam Petty, the son of Kyle Petty and grandson of Richard Petty, raced 47 times in what is now the Xfinity Series. He had four top-10s in that time. In 1998, Adam won an ARCA race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The 19-year-old also made his Cup Series debut at Texas in 2000, racing for Petty Enterprises before his death in May of that year. He died while practicing for the Busch 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway after his throttle got stuck going into Turn 3.
This paint scheme honors Adam and the Petty family. I’m sure Kyle Petty will enjoy seeing it on the track in two weeks as well.

Daniel Dye having good rookie season
So far this season, Daniel Dye hasn’t had a flashy moment where he leads a bunch of laps. What he has done is the little things. He has two top-10s and outside of a DNF at Daytona, he has not finished outside of the top-20.
Fresh off a top-10 at Homestead-Miami, Martinsville is another opportunity. This is a track that has not been a strength for Dye in the Truck Series. He has a best finish of P13 from 2024. So, it could end up being a challenge.
Many drivers believe Martinsville is a veteran’s track. This is not a place where you can come in and just win in your first attempt. Likely not even in the first few attempts. Keep an eye out and see if that trend continues this weekend in a race filled with talented rookies and seasoned racers.
Daniel Dye will likely be back in the conversation at Darlington. Not just for his paint scheme, but also for his driving.
