The former NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has his first career Truck Series win! Daniel Hemric wins at Martinsville. This race was a little bit of everything. Long green flag run, a couple of leaders wrecking late, and a win that everyone can be happy about.

Oh yeah, and Daniel Hemric did a freaking backflip after the win. That’s his signature, like Carl Edwards, but it’s been a long time since he pulled one off. The 34-year-old did fantastic on his celebratory flip.

Corey Heim had a tire go down late and hit the wall. Ty Majeski and Kaden Honeycutt got into each other while fighting for the lead. Hemric was there late to pick up the pieces. Major win for this 19 team.

Going back to Christian Eckes last season, the 19 team has won at Martinsville three years in a row. McAnally-Hilgemann Racing is back(flipping) in victory lane.

Daniel Hemric is a feelgood story. His triumphs are rare but memorable. Last year, he was in the Cup Series. Now, he’s in the Truck Series and remaining humble. He isn’t sure if his career will ever move up through the ranks of NASCAR again. So, he’s enjoying the present while he can in the 19 truck.

The full results are below. Tyler Ankrum put up a good fight, but couldn’t hold off his teammate.

“We found a way there at the end. I wanted to race Tyler, obviously, we’ve got a long season ahead and wanted to race him as clean as I could,” Hemric said after the race. “I walked out of here twice thinking there’s a missing spot in my dining room for a clock. So, it’s cool to finally get one here. … This truck’s now three for three here, this exact same chassis. … I said I wanted to come back here, not come back here to get back anywhere, just come back here to win to stay humble. Just enjoy this journey, man. I’m so thankful for this path I’ve been on.”

That Triple Truck Challenge bonus doesn’t hurt, either. $50,000 bonus for Daniel Hemric and his team. A nice way to cap off a Friday night in Martinsville.

Daniel Hemric has not finished worse than P16 this season. He was not really involved in the races at Atlanta and Las Vegas much. However, P5 at Homestead and now a win – is this team starting to get comfortable?

A lot has been said about Hemric during his career. He has struggled to close the deal late in races. Tonight, he closed the deal. An opportunity was presented to him and he got the job done. Make no mistake, Hemric is very much a championship threat.
