As the College Football Playoff National Championship Game officially marked the end of the 2024 campaign for college football, all attention can now be turned towards the 2025 NFL Draft.

That means we’re going to be hearing from NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah a lot more over the next few months. With that in mind, he tried answering the biggest question pertaining to this season’s draft — which quarterback will NFL franchises fancy more, Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, or Miami’s Cam Ward?

“There’s pretty split opinions around the leagues,” Jeremiah explained, regarding the quarterbacks via The Pat McAfee Show. “It’s pretty polarizing, actually. But to me, when you watch [Sanders], there’s things you can’t — they’re irrefutable. He has got just a pure, pure throwing motion. He is a natural thrower. It is really pretty, the way the ball comes out of his hand. He’s extremely accurate. He’s incredibly tough. He got the living now tar kicked out of him over the last few years there at Colorado. Those things you can’t refute.

“Now, the people that aren’t as high on Shedeur are going to say, ‘Well, he doesn’t have elite size. He doesn’t have an elite arm. He’s not an elite athlete.’ So it’s like, ‘Everything he does is right here. He doesn’t do those other things over the line.’ So, that’s where some of the, you know, disconnect comes, around the league. I think if you get him in the right place, you protect him, he’s a point guard. He can be very, very efficient.

“So I think him and Cam Ward, that’s going to be a fun discussion. I have Cam Ward right now over him, but I have both those guys as the clear cut, top two guys. And there’s so many quarterback-needy teams that are going to have opportunities there in the top ten, I think they both go up there, in the top ten.”

Evidently, it comes down to Ward’s arm and explosiveness as an athlete for Jeremiah, but the NFL Draft guru is of the opinion that both quarterbacks can be more than effective at the professional level.

“He’s just got more — he’s got more life in his arm,” Jeremiah added, regarding Ward. “He’s a little bit more explosive as an athlete, when he takes off and goes. I just think he can expand your playbook a little bit more. Both of them have played a ton of football.

“I just think — I give him a little bit of the check. He’s about 25 pounds heavier. He is just a bigger. sturdier, stronger dude.”

It remains to be seen which quarterback NFL teams like more, but the future is brighter than ever for Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders. There’s a ton of time between now and April’s NFL Draft, so each player will be able to endear themselves over the next few months.
