Daniel Suárez finishes up NASCAR Brasil weekend with P3 result in exciting race
Three races and three solid results. Daniel Suárez rounded out his NASCAR Brasil weekend by finishing P3 in an exciting race. Gabriel Casagrande and Julio Campos earned themselves a victory over a Cup Series talent, but it wasn’t easy.
Daniel Suárez went down to Brazil to get married and while he was there, figured he would get a few races in. The NASCAR Brasil Series is a sprint series. Short, timed races on road courses.
In Race 1 on Saturday, Suárez crossed the line first, but had a five-second penalty for rough driving. He finished P6. Then in Race 2, he finished P2 but a penalty to the leader gave Suárez the win. Today, it was clean racing to the finish and Suárez finished P3.
I would say that is a solid weekend of racing in a brand new series, new country, and entirely different race car. After watching these races over the weekend, I’m a big fan of the Brazil series. It is hard and aggressive racing, because the races are so short. Moves have to be made early and often.
If you want to watch chaos and physical road course racing, NASCAR Brasil is your series. Drivers were sending it into turns and taking each other out, spinning into the grass, losing their doors, and more.

Daniel Suárez wins NASCAR Brasil race on Saturday
In a thrilling race in São Paulo, Brazil yesterday, Daniel Suárez came out on top, and once again a penalty was responsible. In his first NASCAR Brasil race, Suárez crossed in P1 but had a penalty wipe it away, this time he finished P2 but won after Lucas Mendes had a penalty.
This race started with chaos. 20 minutes on the clock at the Autodromo de Interlagos. Into the first turn, cars were spinning and wrecking. Sheet metal all over. Did I mention that this was a night race with headlights on the cars?
Even after the caution, debris was all over the track. Still, the race went on. Daniel Suárez was still learning how to race in NASCAR Brasil, but he got a W.
NASCAR Brasil seems to have racing rules similar to Supercars or a similar series. You can rub and race aggressively, but there is a fine line. With how Suárez is used to racing in the United States, it is an adjustment.
