It’s been a tough couple weeks on the track for Daniel Suarez. And he clearly wasn’t feeling great about things after being taken out in a race for the second straight week, this time by Katherine Legge.

Legge lost control coming off a turn, making slight contact with another driver. She couldn’t prevent the spin, blocking the track up toward the wall.

Daniel Suarez had nowhere to go. He broadsided the first-time Cup Series driver, a nasty collision that you can watch from his in-car camera below.

On top of that, Suarez and his team commented, “f*cking lappers, man,” throwing some slight shade at Legge and her team. It was an understandable remark, given the situation.

Daniel Suarez was running P6 at the time and had a chance to make some noise down the stretch. He’ll be upset to have his race impeded by a wreck for the second straight week.

Last week at Texas, Suarez spun out and his day was ended when his teammate, Connor Zilisch, slammed into him amidst a sea of smoke. There wasn’t much else he could have done, but it ended the day for both drivers.

Now it’s likely to be another frustrating finish for Daniel Suarez, who was trying to assess the damage in his car as he drove through the wreck. It appeared he was going to have to stop to make significant adjustments.

Stage 2 brings out the fireworks

It didn’t have much to do with Daniel Suarez, but late fireworks broke out in Stage 2 at Phoenix. A wreck and a fun race to the finish for the stage points thrilled viewers.

A wreck in the second stage took out a few cars when Chase Briscoe got sandwiched in between a few drivers and made contact with Justin Haley. That accordioned the cars to the outside wall, where they hit Carson Hocevar and then spun in front of several other drivers.

Hocevar, Briscoe, Haley, Riley Herbst, Cole Custer, Shane van Gisbergen and Brad Keselowski were all caught up in the chop, which took some time to clear from the track.

The stage ended with a late battle between Joey Logano on wearing-down option tires and Christopher Bell on the standard yellows. Bell took home the stage win to threaten for a three-peat after coming in off back-to-back race wins at Atlanta and Texas.
