Danny Green will sign a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Cleveland Cavaliers
Danny Green is set to return to the place where his NBA career started years ago in 2009, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The former North Carolina star is set to sign a one-year deal worth $2 million once he clears waivers, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic on Sunday afternoon. He only played in three games this season for the Memphis Grizzlies, before spending the 2020 and 2021 NBA seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Danny Green enjoyed the prime of his career with the Spurs
The best years of his career were with the San Antonio Spurs (2010-2018), when he averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 41.8% during the 2014-2015 season. He played a critical role in leading the Spurs to an NBA crown in 2014. Perhaps the high point of his career came during the 2013 NBA Finals, when he torched the nets, drilling 27 three-pointers. Even though he was scorching hot, the Spurs still lost the series in seven games. His career trajectory has been very up-and-down at times. Green shot incredibly poor when the LA Lakers won the NBA Championship in the bubble in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, he’ll return to the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft with the No. 46 overall selection.

He’s been known throughout his career for his three-point shooting and his defense–he landed on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2017 when he was with the Spurs.
