Report: Dante Fowler, Dallas Cowboys agree to one-year deal

An old face is returning to a familiar place in Dallas. Dante Fowler has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Cowboys worth $8 million, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
The former Florida Gators star spent two seasons with the Cowboys, prior to joining the Washington Commanders in 2024. Now, he’ll stay in the NFC East, but head back to Dallas, as the team shores up their defensive line amid the departure of players like DeMarcus Lawrence and Chauncey Golston.
Fowler is the latest addition among the team’s defensive line, as he’ll join star Micah Parsons and free agent addition Solomon Thomas. The Cowboys have been maligned throughout the past week, as they’ve let some talented players go, and some even had parting shots for Dallas on their way out.
The aforementioned Lawrence set the internet on fire Thursday evening, claiming to have left the Cowboys because he did not believe winning a Super Bowl was possible. Parsons responded, calling out his former teammate.
The back and forth continued, and Lawrence fired another shot. He doubled down on his comments before saying he would have stayed with the Cowboys had Parsons gotten off Twitter.

“Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,” Lawrence said via X. “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”
Parsons has not been shy about his social media use, even during the season. The Cowboys star hosts a podcast and discusses a wide range of topics. Dallas could be having a tough season, like they just did in 2024, but Parsons still allows his voice to be heard.
Lawrence apparently had an issue with Parsons’ social media usage or is at least making his thoughts known about it now. Now a Seahawk, Lawrence is no longer set to line up on the opposite side of Parsons.
As for Dante Fowler, the Cowboys are hoping he can recapture some of the magic he enjoyed in Washington. While he never amassed more than five sacks in Dallas his first time around, he notched 10.5 with the Commanders in 2024. That would certainly come in handy this season, if he can put up similar numbers.
