MLB slugger Juan Soto just set records with the 15-year deal he signed with the New York Mets on Sunday night. Soto inked a contract worth 15-years, $765 million. It’s officially the largest deal in professional sports history. And of course, the contract has plenty of people talking on social media, including Arkansas legend Darren McFadden, who tweeted, “$765 mil. shoulda learned how to hit the ball not hit the gap,”

Here is the tweet below.

Darren McFadden was one of the all-time greats

Perhaps no backfield in Arkansas history was more loaded than what the Razorbacks had in 2006, and Kane Wommack was there to witness it. Then a fullback in Fayetteville, Womack was a teammate of future NFL players Darren McFaddenFelix Jones and Peyton Hillis.

That group led Arkansas to an SEC West division title while ranking fourth in the country with 228.5 yards per game. Both McFadden and Jones had 1,000-yard seasons, and Hillis was a receiving threat with 19 catches for 159 yards.

Wommack contributed just five yards rushing on two carries as he played in three games that season. Now 18 years later, he reflected on the opportunity to be around such an elite group.

“I think if you talk to Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis was in that room, we had three NFL franchise running backs, I’d probably be referred to as the cherry on top,” Wommack joked on The Next Round. “The job of a fullback in Arkansas’ offense at that time was to get the hell out of the way.”

McFadden ended his college career as the most decorated player in school history, and still holds virtually all of the Hogs’ rushing records. His 4,590 career rushing yards ranks third all-time in SEC history, ranking him just behind Herschel Walker and Nick Chubb.

He’s generally considered to be the finest player in Arkansas Razorbacks football history. McFadden was named the Doak Walker Award winner twice in his career (2006 and 2007). He also earned SEC Offensive Player of the Year honors twice (2006 and 2007). He brought home Unanimous All-American honors in 2007, as well as Consensus All-American honors in 2006.
