Davante Adams named NFL's best wide receiver by NFL.com
Davante Adams was named the best receiver in football by a team of analysts on NFL.com. The Green Bay Packers receiver is finally getting recognition.
Davante Adams had one of the greatest seasons of all-time in 2020
Last season, Davante Adams posted numbers originally thought to only be seen in the Madden NFL video game franchise. In those terms, he was a cheat-code. He hauled in 115 receptions for 1,374 yards, along with pacing the league with 18 touchdowns. Oh, and it only took him 14 games.
While Aaron Rodgers may not be thrilled with Green Bay’s front office, losing Adams isn’t worth the trouble. He’s been invaluable to the league MVP. He and Rodgers have a special connection.
His former quarterback chimes in
While Adams and Rodgers have an innate connection, there once was another quarterback in the receiver’s life. While at Fresno State, Adams and current Las Vegas Raiders quarterback, Derek Carr, were a dangerous combination.

The pair elevated each other to heights the university never saw. In Adams’ two years as a Bulldog, he tallied 3,031 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns. Specifically, in 2013, he paced the NCAA in receiving touchdowns. While throwing to Adams, Carr led the country in passing yards, touchdowns, and completions.
Carr’s already begun courting the league’s top receiver for a possible reunion. In an interview with ProFootballTalk, he even offered up a car as compensation.
“Davante, he’s one of my best friends,” Carr said. “I’m gonna offer him whatever I gotta offer. I’ll buy him a car, whatever I’ve got to do I’ll offer that man. I know he would fit in great with the receivers we have here. He would fit so well in that room. I’m allowed to say those things. Our organization isn’t, but I’m going to say it. He’s my best friend, I think he’s one of the best – he’s the best receiver in the NFL.”
Can he remain the NFL’s premier receiver?
There’s no reason to believe Adams is slowing down anytime soon. His route-running ability, sure-hands and drive to find the end-zone can’t be taught. While receivers like DeAndre Hopkins and Tyreek Hill may be tremendous, they have one thing in common. They’re not Adams.
