Davante Adams confirms Aaron Rodgers is 'in my ear' about joining New York Jets
Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were joined at the hip, back when both wore green and gold and hung out at Lambeau Field. But the two now are playing on opposite sides of the country. Might Rodgers be trying to sway Adams his way to the Jets?
Adams says yes. As in yes, Rodgers wants him in NYC
“He’s in the ear,” Adams said this week on the Up & Adams Show. “But it’s not as easy. Obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that. But like I said, I’m a Raider and he knows that.”
The two still hang out together and even went to the Kentucky Derby festivities in May.
So Adams definitely is getting the push to go to the Jets. And, coincidentally, a former teammate also is trying to push Adams back to Green Bay. Josh Jacobs was a teammate of Adams when both played for the Raiders the past two seasons. But Jacobs left Vegas to sign with the Packers. It’s all like some weird triangle.
Obviously, Adams rejoining Rodgers and shifting shades of green jerseys would be huge breaking NFL news. Rodgers is about to start his second season with the Jets as he hopes that his surgically-repaired Achilles stays strong. When he signed a year ago, New York added two of Rodgers receiver friends — Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb. Lazard still is on the Jets roster, while Cobb is a free agent.

The Jets start training camp when the rookies report July 18, with veterans like Rodgers reporting five days later. NYC did address some specific Rodgers needs in the off season. The team used its first round pick on Olu Fashanu, an offensive tackle from Penn State. They signed three free agent linemen, including former Dallas Cowboy Tyron Smith.
Meanwhile, the Jets added a couple of receivers in veteran Mike Williams and third-round draft pick Malachi Corley of Western Kentucky. Garrett Wilson, the former Ohio State star and first rounder from 2022, already is on the roster.
As Adams told Jacobs earlier this summer, he doesn’t want to leave Vegas. Besides, it may be easier if the receiver waits til next year to make a move. Then again, will Rodgers still be around? He turns 41 in December.
