Davante Adams has agreed to a reworked contract with the New York Jets after Tuesday’s trade, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It will now give the franchise more salary cap flexibility and the two sides will talk about their future after this season.

Adams’ salary cap hit drops to $3.21 million, Schefter reported, and the Jets added two voidable years to the contract. That will give both sides the ability to work out a potential future deal and minimize the cap hit New York will take after making the trade.

The Jets traded a conditional third-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for Adams, who requested a move earlier this month. He’s now reuniting with Aaron Rodgers in New York after the two formed quite the one-two punch in Green Bay with the Packers and is set to make his debut on Sunday, Schefter reported.

The duo were quickly reunited Tuesday. Adams crashed Rodgers’ weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, and the quarterback spoke about what it meant to pair back up with his former top target.

“Obviously, really excited,” Rodgers said. “Love Tae, phenomenal player and a dear friend. It was a crappy day, obviously yesterday. We had a real good chance to get to 3-3 and win a home game. We kind of gave that one away. I was pissed driving home through traffic, had a couple messages, I was just not in the mood to talk to anybody. Got home and Tae called me, he texted me, so I finally called him back. About 12:30, 12:45 last night, I heard the news.”

It caps off an interesting week, to say the least, for the Jets. The franchise fired coach Robert Saleh after a loss in London to the Minnesota Vikings and demoted offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Then, New York fell to the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football to drop to 2-4 one day before making the move for Davante Adams.
