Davante Adams trade: New York star immediately unveils custom Jets cleats for debut vs. Steelers
Davante Adams is ready to make his debut with the New York Jets on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The six-time Pro Bowl receiver will reunite with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was his teammate for eight seasons on the Green Bay Packers.
Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders a few weeks ago, and it seems he had an idea of his eventual destination ahead of time. The receiver posted a photo on social media Tuesday showing off two pairs of cleats he will wear as a member of the Jets.
Adams has sat out the past three games while waiting to be traded from the Raiders. He recorded 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown across the first three.
In his final season with Rodgers in Green Bay, Adams posted a career-high 1,553 yards receiving on 123 catches with 11 touchdowns. He had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023 and will hope to recapture the chemistry he had with Rodgers on the Packers.
Adams will team up with Garrett Wilson in New York. He leads the Jets with 40 catches for 399 yards and three touchdowns this season.
New York is off to a 2-4 start to the season after losing to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night. The Jets recently fired coach Robert Saleh as Jeff Ulbrich has taken over as interim coach in the meantime.

Aaron Rodgers reacts to Jets trading for Davante Adams, reveals when he learned of deal
Adams crashed Rodgers’ weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, and the quarterback spoke about what it meant to pair back up with his former top target.
“Obviously, really excited,” Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show” Tuesday. “Love Tae, phenomenal player and a dear friend. It was a crappy day, obviously yesterday. We had a real good chance to get to 3-3 and win a home game. We kind of gave that one away. I was pissed driving home through traffic, had a couple messages, I was just not in the mood to talk to anybody. Got home and Tae called me, he texted me, so I finally called him back. About 12:30, 12:45 last night, I heard the news.”
Hours later, it became official. The Jets acquired the All-Pro wideout from the Las Vegas Raiders (2-4) in exchange for a conditional third round draft pick that can turn into second-round pick based on Adams’ performance.
