Davante Adams trade rumors: Adam Schefter reveals timeline, front runner to land Raiders WR
The Davante Adams sweepstakes are still in their early stages after news broke that the Raiders star wideout wanted a trade from Las Vegas. And things aren’t likely to make any leaps forward in the coming days, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Speaking on “NFL Live” on Thursday, Schefter explained that while a trade is very likely to happen, it will likely be at least after the Week 5 slate of games gets played, and for a number of reasons. For one, Adams is dealing with a hamstring injury at present, and one of the early evident suitors, the New York Jets, are playing in London, England, this weekend.
“And a lot of people have connected the Jets as a favorite, if not the favorite,” Schefter said. “The Jets are going to London tonight to play the Vikings on Sunday. You would think that the Jets are Raiders will continue talks after the Jets return from London. So it looks like any Davante Adams trade will slow down right now. It does look like it’s going to happen at some point, we just don’t know where, we don’t know when. But it is in motion to happen. But I don’t think it happens any time before the Sunday games in Week 5.”

Schefter also discussed how Adams being on ice with a hamstring injury for the time being is hampering a potential trade being consummated, not only because Adams will be sidelined.
“There continues to be a belief around the league that it’s only a matter of time before Davante Adams is traded to another team,” Schefter said. “And that time doesn’t appear to be happening before Week 5 kicks off. Because Davante Adams has a lingering, legitimate hamstring injury that he suffered in practice one week ago that he’s still recovering from. And it doesn’t sound like teams are in a rush to trade for a player when they have to pay him an additional roughly million dollars each week he doesn’t play, when he can’t play right now due to the hamstring injury.
