Davante Adams trade rumors: Antonio Pierce adds fuel to speculation with IG activity
Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce may have added some fuel to the fire when it comes to the Davante Adams trade rumors. Social media users noticed that Pierce liked an Instagram post from Sports Illustrated that said “Davante Adams is likely to be gone if the Raiders get what they want in a trade.”
It’s likely Pierce was trolling the media by liking the Instagram post, but it would not be a surprise to see the Raiders trade Adams to a Super Bowl contender if the team begins to struggle. The All-Pro wide receiver is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and didn’t play in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns.
In three games this season, Adams has caught 18 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown. In 2023, the Fresno State alum registered 103 receptions for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns. It was the first time Adams didn’t reach the Pro Bowl since the 2016 season.
Will the Raiders trade Davante Adams to the Chiefs?
The Raiders are last in the AFC West but are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos with a 2-2 record. There’s still plenty of football left in the season, so a trade doesn’t seem likely right now. On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and shut down the rumor that the Chiefs will trade for Adams since Rahsee Rice is dealing with an injury.

“I don’t see the Raiders trading (Davante Adams)… Surely not to the Chiefs,” Schefter said, per Athlon Sports. “The Raiders got multiple inquiries (about Adams) this summer and didn’t even entertain the conversation.”
“(The Raiders) are thinking ‘We’re going to keep winning like we did yesterday, we’re going to get this back on track and Davante Adams is going to be a part of this,” Schefter added.
