Davante Adams trade rumors: Antonio Pierce reveals Raiders' approach to potential WR trade
The Las Vegas Raiders (2-2) are presumably in the process of fielding trade offers for star receiver Davante Adams, who requested a trade from the organization Tuesday.
Head coach Antonio Pierce was peppered with questions about Adams’ trade request Wednesday, and further answered to the media Friday. Pierce declined to go into too much detail, saying he will continue to “handle the grass” while general manager Tom Telesco will manage the off-field speculation.
“That’s handled on the third floor [by Telesco],” Pierce said, via Tashan Reed of The Athletic. “I’m focused on the Denver Broncos and getting my team ready and prepared to play… I’ll handle the grass; Telesco will handle everything else.”
Adams, 31, is in his third season with the Raiders, coming over via trade from the Green Bay Packers (2-2) ahead of the 2022 campaign. He has three years remaining on the five-year, $140 million extension he signed with Las Vegas. Adams is still owed $13.5 million of his $17.5 million salary and bonuses for this season.
Several potential suitors emerge for Davante Adams
The three-time All-Pro has continued to produce in silver and black. He has hauled in 221 receptions for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns in 37 games with the Raiders. Adams did not suit up in last Sunday’s 20-16 Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns (1-3), sidelined with a hamstring injury. He will not play in this Sunday’s Week 5 road contest against the Denver Broncos (2-2).

Adams has been subject to trade rumors as the Raiders have failed to stack consistent performances over the last few years, along with some of his public outbursts of frustration during the Josh McDaniels regime.
Several teams have emerged as possible candidates to acquire Adams, including the New York Jets (2-2), New Orleans Saints (2-2) and Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1). Adams previously played with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and Saints quarterback Derek Carr both at Fresno State and Las Vegas.
Adams stoked the flames of potential interest from the Baltimore Ravens (2-2), posting a photo of Edgar Allen Poe on his Instagram story Friday. Baltimore’s name is of course inspired by Poe’s poem “The Raven.”
The NFL trade deadline is at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
