The New York Jets are going to look a lot different in 2025.

After Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will not return to the team next season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network added that receiver Davante Adams is likely headed elsewhere as well.

“Davante Adams left his 2025 contract unchanged and his $38.3M cap number is untenable. He’d have to agree to a new deal to stay,” Rapoport wrote on X. “And with Aaron Rodgers moving on, Adams likely will, as well.”

Rapoport added that the 32-year-old Adams would like to head back to the West Coast. Adams, after spending the first eight years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, played for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and ’23, before being traded to the Jets in the middle of this season.

The midseason trade reunited him with Rodgers, his quarterback throughout the duration of his time in Green Bay. Together, they hoped to snap New York’s 13-year streak with no playoffs. That’s now 14, as the Jets stumbled their way to a 5-12 record.

If anything, Adams, the six-time Pro Bowler, proved he still has some high-level ball left in him. In 11 games with the Jets, he hauled in 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns. But with a cap hit north of $38 million, it never made sense for New York to bring him back at that number with a new regime in place.

Report: New York Jets informed Aaron Rodgers they are ‘moving on’ from him at QB, Davante Adams moving on as well?

As for Rodgers, it remains a question on if the 41-year-old wants to continue playing. But if he does, it won’t be with the Jets. That became Rodgers’ reality after he flew back to New Jersey this week to speak with new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey.

“Aaron Rodgers flew back to New Jersey this week to meet with the Jets about his future. He met with the head coach and the GM. Only to be told that they want to move on from him,” Glazer reported. “Now, it depends if Aaron wants to play or not. Do they trade him? Do they cut him?

“But the fact that Aaron actually used his own plane to fly to fly there and find out the decision probably means he wants to play another year. It’s just not going to be for the Jets.”
