Following today’s opener against Dallas, Cleveland may now have a concern going into the start of their season with the status of David Njoku.

Per a report by Ian Rapoport, Njoku may have suffered a high ankle sprain during the game this afternoon versus the Cowboys. The Browns’ tight end will now undergo testing on Monday to confirm the injury and its severity.

Njoku left in the third quarter of the 33-17 loss for the Browns on Sunday. He was then exiting the stadium in a walking boot following the defeat per reports.

Njoku led Cleveland’s offense in receiving yardage this afternoon with 44 yards after catching four of his five targets.

This comes after Njoku had his best season last year as a Pro Bowler. He posted career numbers overall with 81 catches off of 123 targets for 882 yards and six touchdowns.

If Njoku is unavailable for the next stretch to begin the year, Jordan Akins would be their next tight end. He was actually second in yardage for them against the Cowboys with 27 yards after catching three of his four targets.

Njoka has been a key piece to Cleveland’s offense as he enters his eighth season there, especially after last year. That leaves plenty of emphasis on tomorrow’s update following the testing on his ankle.

Jake Ferguson injury update: Report emerges on severity of knee injury

The Dallas Cowboys handled the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Unfortunately, though, they suffered an injury to one of their important offensive weapons in Jake Ferguson.

Shortly after the loss on Sunday evening, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network updated his status. He is not believed to have suffered an ACL tear based on initial tests as his x-rays were negative. Now, an MRI will be coming on Monday.

Dak Prescott added to reporters that they “dodged a big one” after the game.
