David Pollack believes that Abdul Carter is the unquestionable No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he revealed on his YouTube show.

His decision to tab the Penn State standout isn’t one that’s out of left field, but there will be arguments made for Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter to be drafted with the top spot. Not to mention a pair of quarterbacks in Hunter’s former teammate Shedeur Sanders or even Miami’s Cam Ward.

“A quarterback is the most important position in football,” Pollack admitted. “There’s no doubt about it. There’s also a lot to be said for guys to get quarterbacks on the ground, and that’s a really important position. And I think if we’re talking about the guy who does his craft the best in this draft, I’m not taking any of these quarterbacks over No. 11.

“I’m riding with Abdul Carter, and it’s not it’s not debatable for me.”

The defensive star has been a dominating force for Penn State throughout his time in Happy Valley. All told, he spent three seasons with the program, amassing 173 total tackles, 23 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception. Carter totaled 12 sacks in 2024 alone.

Something that might endear Carter to NFL teams was his willingness to play through injury in the CFP Semifinals against Notre Dame. Despite the Nittany Lions falling short, Carter was a game-wrecker while dealing with an upper-body injury. He finished that game with five tackles and a sack.

Moving forward, Carter will likely be an instant impact player in the NFL, which is why he won’t have to wait long to hear his name called come April. Whichever team drafts him will be getting a defensive stud for years to come. To Pollack, it will be the Tennessee Titans with the No. 1 overall pick, unless someone trades up for his services, of course.

There is a chance that Tennessee takes a quarterback at No. 1 overall, however. The Titans benched former second-rounder Will Levis in favor of Mason Rudolph after a mid-season slump and a slew of injuries. Sanders or Ward could fit right in Brian Callahan’s offense if they choose to pass on Carter.

If so, other teams shouldn’t expect Carter to last much longer after that.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to be held from Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
