Davion Mintz signs deal with Washington Wizards following 2022 NBA Draft
Kentucky guard Davion Mintz should be back on the court soon after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft. After spending the last six seasons in Omaha and Lexington, he’ll now be headed to the nation’s capital.
Per Hoops Rumors’ JD Shaw and Mintz’ agents, he has signed an Exhibit-10 contract to join the Washington Wizards. This specific contract is a one-year, minimum signing that’s able to be converted to a two-way contract.
Mintz originally spent his first four college seasons at Creighton. He averaged 6.6 points per game in 97 career games as a Bluejay. He redshirted during the 2019-2020 season due to an ankle injury before he transferred to UK.
Mintz was expected to play a supporting role as a veteran. Instead, he became a fan favorite for the Wildcats as a grad transfer under John Calipari. He ended up being the focal point of the team during their 9-16 year in 2021. During that stretch, he averaged a career best 11.5 points per game on 37.8% from deep.

After preparing for the NBA Draft last season, he elected to return to college for a sixth and final season using his extra year of eligibility from the NCAA due to the pandemic. He came off the bench for a much improved Kentucky team last year that finished 26-8. Mintz averaged 8.5 points per game during his ‘super senior’ season.
It was unlikely he would hear his name called during the official draft. With that said, he worked out with a few teams ahead of the draft in hopes of getting a deal like this. The Wizards were one of those teams that brought in the Charlotte, North Carolina native. With a contract in hand, it’s now up to Mintz to make the most of his upcoming NBA opportunity.
