Deebo Samuel gives update on Ricky Pearsall status, more details emerge on shooting, robbery

Amid the harrowing news that San Francisco 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall was shot in a robbery gone bad in San Francisco, teammate Deebo Samuel shared a reassuring update on his fellow wideout.

Samuel took to social media, sharing that Pearsall was “good” after being shot.

“He’s good,” Samuel said, with a crossed fingers and prayer hands emoji, before adding “Thank god!!!!”

And as Samuel shared his brief update on the teammate, more details emerged from police.

Pearsall was apparently going to an autograph signing when he was robbed at gunpoint. At some point, a struggle for the gun ensued and both Pearsall and the suspect — who is in custody — were shot. Pearsall was apparently shot in the chest, according to FOX40’s Kirsten Moran-Kellar, and the robbery was mostly over Pearsall’s Rolex wristwatch.

Police and the 49ers issued statements on the shooting

San Francisco police have released an initial statement on the robbery-gone-bad that resulted in Pearsall getting shot on Saturday afternoon.

The police arrived on scene after reports of a shooting, locating Pearsall and the assailant at the scene. Both men were treated by paramedics before being sent to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

“Upon arrival, officers located two male subjects suffering from injuries. Officers rendered aid and medics transported both subjects to a local hospital for further medical evaluation,” the statement said. “During the preliminary investigation, officers learned one of the subjects attempted to rob the victim, San Francisco 49ers player Ricky Pearsall. During the attempted robbery, a physical altercation ensued, and both the suspect and victim were injured. The suspect is in custody and charges are pending at this time. All information is preliminary, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”

Pearsall is apparently in stable condition after the shooting.

The 49ers also released a statement on Saturday evening.

“San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was the victim of an attempted robbery and shooting this afternoon. He sustained a bullet wound to his chest and is in serious but stable condition. We ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ricky and the entire Pearsall family,” the statement said.
