San Francisco star Deebo Samuel likely will miss at least two games because of a shoulder injury he suffered last Sunday in a loss to the Browns.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Saturday that Samuel has a hairline fracture in his shoulder. He’s expected back by week 10 against Jacksonville.

San Francisco plays the Vikings for Monday Night Football. It’s not clear whether the offense will have two other key contributors. Running back Christian McCaffrey is questionable with an oblique injury. Meanwhile, offensive tackle Trent Williams is doubtful with an ankle sprain. All these injuries happened against Cleveland, when the 49ers suffered their first loss of the season.

Shanahan said that doctors discovered Samuel’s fracture by doing a CT scan.

Deebo Samuel expected back by Jags, Nov. 12

Shanahan indicated it’ll take three more weeks for Samuel’s fracture to heal. Fortunately for the 49ers, the team also has a bye week during that stretch, so Samuel should miss games against the Vikings and the Bengals, Oct. 29. If Samuel’s shoulder follows the timeline, he’ll be back for a road game against the Jaguars, Nov. 12.

Samuel suffered is injury early in the 49ers 19-17 loss to the Browns. He’s caught 20 passes (out of 32 targets) for 302 yards and a touchdown. He’s also rushed the ball 16 times for 87 yards and a score.

The 49ers won’t have Deebo Samuel against the Vikings and there’s a chance Christian McCaffrey won’t play either. Both players were injured last Sunday in San Fran’s first loss of the season. (Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports)
