Deebo Samuel injury update: Kyle Shanahan reveals extent of 49ers WR injury, return timeline
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan shared an injury update on Deebo Samuel who left the game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. On Monday afternoon, Shanahan told reporters that the star wideout is day-to-day with an injury to his ribs and an oblique strain. He’ll be re-evaluated after the 49er’s bye week.
Samuel played in the Sunday Night Football game after battling pneumonia recently. He left the game with a rib injury after catching four passes for 71 yards and rushing for 15 yards on four carries.
“Mike, we’ve been talking all night about the health issues to the 49ers. Well, earlier in the game, we saw Deebo Samuel and the athletic training staff. They were working on him. Putting a heating lotion on his left wrist. We also saw him go into the medical tent a few minutes ago with the head athletic trainer and the team doctor. Official word from the team, he is questionable with a rib injury,” NBC’s Melissa Stark explained during the broadcast.
Last week, Debo Samuel was hospitalized due to pneumonia and fluid in his lungs. He came down with an illness during the 49ers’ Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs and left the game early after being seen on the sideline wearing an oxygen mask.
