San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who reportedly requested a trade this offseason after a stall in contract extension talks, quickly shot down a social media post circulating online. After becoming a topic of discussion in recent days, he is putting his foot down on the truth.

In an edited photo, a fake text message conversation between the former South Carolina star and NFL safety Jamal Adams went viral. However, Deebo Samuel shot down the social media rumor by responding to the person who posted the alleged screenshot from Instagram.

“Lol false,” Samuel responded. “Don’t even got dude number or nothing.”

The original post seemed to take a shot at Jamal Adams, who requested a trade several years ago before joining the Seattle Seahawks and receiving the contract extension he wanted.

“I feel what u going thru fr fr,” the fake text read in part.

Samuel allegedly responded, “thanks for the advice bro but it’s a lil different.” The message continued, “I carried us to the playoffs.”

The final fake message in the sting supposedly from Adams read, “what’s that supposed to mean?”

The fake text message thread was accompanied by a fake block of text on the Instagram story which read, “lmfao y’all see this corny ass boy Jamal Adams?”

Unamused with the fans’ attempt to create more negative storylines surrounding his decision to seek a trade, Samuel not only defended his actions but his character in dealing with fellow NFL players off the field.

NFL insider on Deebo Samuel situation

After news broke that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel requested a trade, a long list of potential suiters was named across the NFL. However, speculation from ESPN’s Adam Schefter could rule out several teams and shorten the list of suitable destinations for the former South Carolina star.

During an appearance on ESPN’s NFL Live, Adam Schefter offered added insight into why he believes Deebo Samuel could be looking for a trade, and where he might want to go.

“My understanding is – and we’d have to hear from Deebo himself – I’m sure there are a multitude of factors as to why he would like to be traded, but I think one of them is the fact that he simply prefers to be closer to home,” said Schefter. “South Carolina, not out west in California. California, San Francisco chose him, he didn’t choose that. How many people leave school and go where they don’t have to go? Deebo is in that situation. I think he’d like to be closer to home somehow.”

With the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons being the closest teams to his home in Inman, South Carolina, they could become the favorites if a deal materializes. The next closest teams include the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.
