Deion Sanders, who coaches his sons at Colorado, loved seeing LeBron James and Bronny James share the court together during the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game.

In a feel-good moment, Bronny James actually checked into the game and played alongside his father. It’s a rare occurrence in professional sports and the Lakers were a part of history Sunday night.

“I’m COMING Back to play with my sons to! This is HISTORICAL! Give this man his FLOWERS NOW! This speaks to Fatherhood, Excellence & Longevity,” Sanders wrote on Twitter.

Lakers’ star Austin Reaves is on the bandwagon too, calling it ‘very cool’ to play with the James father-son duo.

“It’s crazy to think about,” Reaves said during an event in The Philippines. “Obviously, for LeBron, he’s 39 I believe, going into Year 22. For him to just put himself in that position, to have an opportunity to play with his son, it’s special. I know, obviously for him, it’s a very, very big thing. We’ve had conversations about it. And I know he’ll be extra motivated to be at his peak level, as always.

“For me to be able to be around them and to see what it’s going to be like, it’s going to be very cool for me, and I can’t wait to see Bronny grow. Obviously, he gets a bad rap because of who his dad is. Everybody’s going to hold him to the standard of his dad when the kid just wants to play and have fun and create his own path. I can’t wait to get around him and see him grow and ultimately, pave out a career for himself in his own way.”

A historic moment for LeBron, Bronny James

LeBron James previously called it a “dream come true” to play with Bronny.

“With my son, obviously, it’s a dream come true for me,” James told reporters at the USA Basketball showcase in Las Vegas this summer. “To see my son – to be able to be in the NBA alone, it’s always been a dream of his. For us to be side-by-side a lot of words [are] lost, to be honest.”

The Lakers selected Bronny James with the No. 55 overall pick in the draft after one year at USC. His college career got off to a rough start, though, when he suffered a cardiac arrest in a workout last summer.

“The kid has worked so hard to get to this point,” James said. “There’s just so much that’s happened over the last year with him. To have this happen less than a year from his incident, to be with our friends and our family when they announced his name, it was something that was super surreal and our family still doesn’t even have enough words to explain the feeling that we have. Just such a great kid, and I’m looking forward to seeing his progression and him continuing to get better and better as he continues to grow as a young man.

“He’s 19 years old, so he has so much room for improvement. Looking forward to helping him improve, I know the coaching staff is helping him improve and everybody on the team. It’ll be fun.”
