Deion Sanders reacts to Tennessee Titans firing GM Ran Carthon
The Tennessee Titans fired general manger Ran Carthon on Tuesday after two seasons with the franchise; Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders took notice and shared his reaction on social media.
Sanders is keeping a watchful eye on Tennessee’s situation as the Titans own the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Deion’s son, Shedeur Sanders, is one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s class and could be of interest to the Titans, who have watched Will Levis struggle in his first two seasons in the league.
Even if the Titans elect to continue with Levis as their starting quarterback, there’s another Buffaloes standout at the top of the board. That would be Travis Hunter, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. In terms of best player available, Hunter is just that — both an elite cornerback and receiver prospect. Tennessee’s roster needs help coming off a 3-14 season, and Hunter would check a lot of boxes.
There have been whispers that Sanders could control where both his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, go in the Draft. Sanders pushed back resoundingly on that notion.
“It will be multiple IDIOTS that will say things that totally aren’t true regarding where I would like [Shedeur and Shilo] to play in the NFL,” Sanders wrote last week on X. “If I say it I will say it directly to whom it may concern not a attention seeker. I do know [NFL commissioner Roger Goodell] personally!”

Tennessee Titans make big change in front office
Nonetheless, Tennessee will likely be in the market for one of Colorado’s stars. But the person in charge of making that call won’t be Carthon.
“I’ve loved the time l’ve spent with Ran,” Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement. “He’s a talented football mind, a great man, and friend to everyone along his path. It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years. I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, of course, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course.
“I love this team more than you can imagine. To our fans: we know this level of performance isn’t acceptable. We’re humbled by your support as we continue to work towards building the team you expect and deserve.”
