Shortly following the Dallas Cowboys’ surprise playoff loss, Robert Griffin III pushed for Dallas to fire Mike McCarthy and hire Deion Sanders in his place.

Sanders made it clear that he’s not interested in making the leap for the NFL, but he does still have plenty of thoughts on what has gone wrong for the Cowboys in recent seasons once Dallas has made it to the playoffs.

“Big time players making big time plays in big time games,” Deion Sanders said on RG3 and The Ones. “That’s what I think the main issue is. Like, I’ve been on every side of this thing. So, I know you can dial it up, but if they don’t do their jobs, it ain’t gonna work and you sit up there.”

Deion Sanders, who is currently the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, has coached at the FBS, FCS, and at the high school level. He also knows that coaches are often blamed for players doing the wrong things during a game.

“And that’s why I wish, I remember when I played for the Cowboys and the reporter was coming at the coach. I said, ‘You know what I wish? I wish we could watch the game film in the stadium with the fans, so you could see what’s said in meetings.’ So you could see, ‘You see this, guy was supposed to have contain, weren’t you?’ ‘Yeah, coach.’ ‘What happened?’ ‘I don’t know.’ I want them to see that,” Sanders said.

“Who was supposed to do what on this play because all plays are designed to be successful. We don’t design a play to be unsuccessful, but they don’t do their jobs and that’s just the nature of the game at any level.”

Ultimately, Dallas stuck with Mike McCarthy at head coach and will look for other ways to improve the team going into the 2024 season.

Deion Sanders would only consider coaching Dallas Cowboys if his kids were with him

Now that he’s found success coaching at the college level, there are many who think Deion Sanders should make the jump to the NFL and the Dallas Cowboys in particular. However, Sanders made it clear he isn’t going to the Cowboys without his sons.

“You need to give up on it. The only scenario you could come up with right now is to throw my kids in. That’s the only thing you can do, and I know that’s where you were going because I know you,” Sanders said.

“I’m not talking about one of the kids, I’m talking about both of the kids. No, no, no. I ain’t doing that…No, that’s not in our plan. We’ve always had a plan and we’ve executed the plan, 100 percent. So, don’t use my kids to get me.”
