DeMarcus Lawrence fires painful parting shot at Cowboys after Seahawks signing

DeMarcus Lawrence took a shot at the Dallas Cowboys after signing with the Seattle Seahawks this week. While speaking with Seahawks reporter Brian Nemhauser, Lawrence talked about how much he’s going to miss playing for the Cowboys and why he had to leave.
“Dallas is my home… But I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there,” Lawrence told Nemhauser. In his 11 seasons in Dallas, Lawrence played in nine playoff games and never reached the Super Bowl.
But that doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee the four-time Pro Bowler will reach the big game with the Seahawks. This offseason, Seattle lost wide receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, as well as quarterback Geno Smith. And while the Seahawks did bring in quarterback Sam Darnold, offensive lineman Josh Jones and wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, the Seahawks will look much different than the 2024 team that finished with a 10-7 record.
DeMarcus Lawrence had a great run wih the Cowboys
The Cowboys selected Lawrence in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In 141 games, the former Boise State star recorded 61.5 sacks, 21 forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries. Lawrence played in all 17 regular-season games in 2022 and 2023 but missed the majority of the 2024 season after suffering a broken foot after four games.

In February, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones spoke to reporters about DeMarcus Lawrence’s future with the Cowboys. “We will have more discussions this week,” Jones said, per the Cowboys’ official website. “I don’t want to get out in front or assume anything one way or the other with D Law, I’m sure he can speak to that; that’s the way we like to leave it, just as Zack [Martin] spoke for himself on when he was going to retire. “We’ll have the same respect for DeMarcus Lawrence and I’m not aware of anything right now other than that he’s playing.”
In February, David Canter, Lawrence’s agent, said his client is not going to retire. “We’ve never had any conversations other than, ‘DeMarcus Lawrence is going to continue to play football,'” Canter said, per Todd Brock of Cowboys Wire. “We’ve never talked the ‘R’ word. It’s never been in our vernacular.”
