Former Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence has reached an agreement on a deal with the Seattle Seahawks, per NFL insider Tom Pelissero. Lawrence is expected to sign a three-year deal worth up to $42 million with 18 million guaranteed.

Lawrence spent the first 11 years of his NFL career in Dallas. During that time, he made four Pro Bowls for the Cowboys after the franchise selected him in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Ahead of free agency, it wasn’t a lock that Lawrence was on his way out of Dallas, he told Mac Engel of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. However, it seems as though they weren’t able to work out a new deal before Seattle entered the picture.

“The ball is in their court. I’m not only going to play in Dallas,” Lawrence told Engel. “I’m going to have other options, but I’d like to stay here. It would be a glorious thing. … My family is here. I love it here. The fans love me here.”

He went on to play 141 games for the Cowboys, which included 450 total tackles, 61.5 sacks, seven fumble recoveries and two interceptions. In 2024, Lawrence played in just four games for Dallas but was impactful when he was in the lineup. He recorded 14 tackles and three sacks during his limited availability.

Lawrence’s best season came in 2017 when he totaled 14.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interpception on top of 64 total tackles. He would go on to amass 25 sacks between 2017 and 2018 and earn second-team All-Pro honors in 2017.

Other career highlights include a pick-six in 2021, a career-best 65 total tackles (43 solo) in 2022, and a streak spanning from 2017 through the 2020 season where he did not miss a single game. Lawrence played 64 games in a row for the Cowboys over that stretch. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2017, 2018, 2022 and again in 2023.

Dallas Cowboys trade for Buffalo Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam

The Dallas Cowboys are set to scoop up a former first-round NFL Draft pick via a trade. The Buffalo Bills are dealing cornerback Kaiir Elam.

NFL insider Josina Anderson first reported news of the expected trade on Wednesday. She did not include any potential terms. Shortly after Anderson’s report broke, Buffalo confirmed details of the trade. Buffalo will receive a fifth-round pick (2025) and future seventh-round pick (2026) in exchange for Elam and a sixth-round pick (2025).
