When Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown suffered a torn ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee during the Week 14 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals, there was serious concern his 2025 season could be in jeopardy.

Now over a month removed from undergoing surgery, Overshown says he hasn’t talked timeline for a return with the Cowboys. But if one exists, he’s determined to beat it.

“They haven’t talked timeline with me,” Overshown said Monday, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News. “They know how I am. Don’t tell me I’m going to miss the whole season or don’t tell me I can play at the beginning of the season. Being me, I’m going to try and get there right now. It’s kind of like last year, we get to nine-month period and see how I am.”

DeMarvion Overshown determined to return sooner than expected

Overshown’s injury occurred as he was attempting to make a tackle on Bengals running back Chase Brown. As Overshown engaged with guard Alex Cappa, another Bengals offensive lineman fell on his right leg. Overshown, who needed assistance to get off the field, was immediately taken to the X-ray room for examination.

Overshown, the 2023 third-round pick out of Texas, missed his entire rookie season after sustaining a torn ACL in his left knee during the preseason. The 24-year-old made a full recovery and was a bright spot on the Cowboys’ defense this season. Overshown tallied 90 tackles (56 solo), eight tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, one pick six and a forced fumble.

Overshown is the third Cowboy to record at least five sacks, an interception, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble in the same season, joining DeMarcus Ware (2006) and Greg Ellis (1999), per Todd Archer of ESPN.

“I’ll be back playing football for sure in 2025, and it won’t be in December,” Overshown said. “It will be before that.”
