DeMarvion Overshown stuns fellow Cowboys rookies with his hidden talent
Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker DeMarvion Overshown stunned his draft classmates on Thursday at the Bank of America Rookie Premiere. Asked by the host what skill or talent the rookies would feel confident saying they could outdo any of their classmates with, Overshown confidently proclaimed he could out-sing them all.
Not only did he confidently proclaim it, he proved it by standing up in front of the gathered crowd and crooning out Josh Turner’s Your Man. His rendition, even without the musical accompaniment, was spot on.
Luckily, a Cowboys reporter captured the moment so you can take a look and judge for yourself:
As lovely as it is, the Cowboys didn’t draft Overshown for his singing abilities. They snagged him in the third round at No. 90 overall with the hopes that he can step into the defense and make an impact in short order.
Overshown to play ‘anywhere, everywhere’
The former Texas Longhorns star inked a four-year deal for $5.39 million, which includes a signing bonus of $920,016.

Breaking down the contract from year to year, Overshown will get $750,000 in 2023, $995,001 in 2024, $1,240,002 in 2025 and $1,485,003 in 2026. Because he is not a first-rounder, his contract does not come with a fifth-year option. However, Dallas can extend or modify his contract after his third season in the league.
In his final season at Texas, Overshown posted 96 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and four sacks. It was the culmination of a five-year career in Austin and it was his best season on record. Leaning on his versatility developed at Texas, the Cowboys plan to move Overshown around the field a lot on defense.
“Any and everywhere,” Overshown said of his position after the draft. “Right now, we’re gonna start at the WILL (weakside LB) position, the last time I spoke with [Dan Quinn]. We really detailed that position, but anywhere, everywhere. He has a plan for me: just moving me around, kinda like what I was doing in college. [It’s] kinda what you see right now with the Dallas defense — moving a lot of players around.”
