Denny Hamlin apparently saw an opportunity to grow his bank account while responding to criticism from Kyle Larson and Kyle Petty for his actions during his victory in Sunday’s HighPoint.com 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Hamlin, who appeared to make contact while executing a pass on Larson to take the lead with seven laps remaining, released a new line of apparel focused on his win at Pocono.

“Yes I Am Always Right,” one shirt reads — a dig at both Larson and Petty’s comments after the race.

“I’ve been cost a lot of good finishes by him throughout my career,” Larson said after the race. “And I know he says that I race a certain way, but I don’t think I’ve ever had to apologize to him about anything. Not that I’m sure he’ll say ‘I’m sorry’ after this, but it is what it is. Just move on and try to go to Richmond, where we won earlier this year. It is what it is. Yeah, we’re friends. Yes, this makes things awkward. But he’s always right. All the buddies know Denny’s always right. It is what it is. I’m not gonna let it tarnish our friendship off track. But I am pissed, and I feel like I should be pissed.

“I think at this point I have the right. Like I’ve said, I’ve never had to apologize to him about anything I’ve done on the race track. I can count four or five times where he’s had to reach out to me and say, ‘Sorry I’ve put you in a bad spot there.’ So eventually, like he says, you have to start racing people a certain way to get the respect back.”

Petty, meanwhile, called out Hamlin for playing the victim.

“Denny can’t be the victim,” Petty said. “We played his radio, he was the victim, he puts himself in the victim position. You’re not the victim here, Denny Hamlin. And when I looked at this one and we heard what Kyle Larson said, he said, ‘Denny’s always right, all his buddies know it.’ And he laughed about it. Because he knows Denny’s not going to apologize for this. It was a great race. I enjoyed every lap, I loved the strategy, I loved everything about it. The ending? I don’t appreciate. I don’t appreciate. Even 50 wins, what he’s done I don’t appreciate that because we saw this same move last year and that’s just my opinion.”
