Things are not going great for Denny Hamlin in the Coca-Cola 600, at least not on pit road. Chris Buescher is the one to blame. The two NASCAR drivers are not happy with each other, but Hamlin is livid.

With how the pit boxes are laid out at Charlotte, it is tight in some areas. Chris Buescher selected his stall last because he did not make a qualifying lap. It was the box in front of Denny Hamlin.

The way Buescher has to get into the box causes Hamlin to have to backup to leave his own box. That has Hamlin fuming on the radio. He asked his crew chief Chris Gabehart to go over to Buescher’s pit and demand they do something.

Gabehart tells Hamlin, “Brother, if I do anything more than I’ve already done, we’re going to FIGHT! Do you understand? I’ve done all I can do!”

Then Hamlin replies, “That’s what I’m going to do next time. Do you hear me 17? Park in your Goddamn box! I will stomp on your bumper!

Apparently, whatever Chris Gabehart was saying to the No. 17 team took hold. The crew asked Buescher if he could enter the box differently. Apparently, he did.

On the next pit stop which happened after a Corey LaJoie incident on track, Buescher entered differently. It allowed Denny Hamlin to leave clearly. However, the 17 had to backup to avoid John Hunter Nemechek in front of him and Nemechek was stuck in his box completely.

Denny Hamlin running well, needs a little more

Throughout this Coca-Cola 600, things have been going well. However, Hamlin needs more. He has to get more from his pit crew, he needs to figure out how to enter the box in order to exit it better. The speed is there, though.

The only thing that will keep Hamlin from attempting to win tonight, the weather. Rain and lightning are trying to spoil things in the Coca-Cola 600. It is a shame, really. But it feels like NASCAR can get the race going again.

Rain and lightning are going to pass quickly. Once that happens, track drying can begin and things will (hopefully) get going again. Hamlin’s teammate Christopher Bell is leading the race under red.

Denny Hamlin is pissed off, but he has to put that aside. There is a race in front of him and a possible fourth win for the season. William Byron, who also has three wins, is in the mix as well.
