Denny Hamlin opened up about his growing family, as he and his fiancée, Jordan Fish, welcomed a son earlier this month. On the Actions Detrimental Podcast, Hamlin shared details of his son being born on June 11, which is a special day for him.

“They are doing good,” Denny Hamlin said when asked about his family. “I’ll tell you, had I won this week, I would be on an unprecedented heater. I mean, I still probably am. On the track, off-track, we’re white hot right now.”

Hamlin is referring to the new baby and his finishing in the top three of his last three races, including a second-place finish at Pocono on Sunday. And with the baby being born on the 11th, it was fitting for the Hamlin family since Denny drives the No. 11 Toyota Camry.

“Trust me, we didn’t plan this to happen during Mexico City week or on the 11th,” Hamlin said. When explaining the birth of his son, Hamlin said that Jordan went to the doctor on Tuesday, June 10, and was told to go straight to the hospital. When they got settled into the hospital, it was four hours until the 11th.

“We were thinking, ‘You know, it would be kind of cool to have a June 11 baby,'” Hamlin said. “And I didn’t realize my first Cup win came on June 11 at Pocono. I didn’t realize until I saw the stat on NASCAR on Prime.

“…The pushing for Molly, the pushing for Taylor was so much shorter. …This was a long, hard, hard labor for Jordan. It happened in the afternoon. It started in the morning of the 11th and went all the way to the afternoon before the little bugger came out finally.

Hamlin and Jordan named their baby boy Jameson Drew Hamlin. And when talking about how they came up with the name, Hamlin admitted it wasn’t an easy process.

“He didn’t get a name until three days later,” Hamlin said. When the three-time Daytona 500 winner was asked why it took so long to choose a name, he said, “We used technology to simplify it.” He then revealed that they came up with “12 names that we liked.” Hamlin’s niece took a photo of the 12 names and went to ChatGPT to “create a spreadsheet with all the combinations of these names.”

This led to ChatGPT issuing 1,000 names. Hamlin went through them and highlighted the ones he liked. They went to ChatGPT again and weeded more names out until it got to 38. Denny Hamlin said that Jordan told him to decide on the name. They settled on Jameson Drew Hamlin.

“There was just too many JDs in my life to not have him be a JD,” the NASCAR veteran driver said. “The son of James, which is myself, is Jameson. …I bounced around a bunch of different D names, and Drew just felt best to me. There’s no rhyme or reason behind that.”
